I don’t remember every part of my story.

Many rescue birds don’t.

Sometimes pieces are missing.

Sometimes the details are unclear.

What matters is not where a bird started.

What matters is what comes next.

Every bird deserves the opportunity to be safe.

Every bird deserves compassionate care.

Every bird deserves enrichment, nutrition, and respect.

Every bird deserves the opportunity to thrive.

Rescue birds are not broken.

They are birds.

Some have experienced challenges.

Some need additional support.

Some need patience.

Some need time.

All deserve compassion.

One of the things the Executive Bird Council believes most strongly is that education and rescue go hand in hand.

Helping people become better bird owners helps birds.

Supporting rescues helps birds.

Sharing information helps birds.

Learning helps birds.

Compassion helps birds.

Not every rescue story looks the same.

Some birds arrive frightened.

Some arrive sick.

Some arrive underweight.

Some arrive missing feathers.

Some arrive carrying experiences we may never fully understand.

But every bird carries potential.

If you are considering adopting a rescue bird, know this:

You do not need to be perfect.

You need to be willing to learn.

You need patience.

You need compassion.

You need commitment.

And sometimes you need walnuts.

The Executive Bird Council is grateful for the rescues, sanctuaries, fosters, volunteers, veterinarians, and advocates who help birds every day.

Your work matters.

The birds know it.

Even if they occasionally pretend otherwise.

My story is still being written.

So is yours.

So is theirs.
