About the Executive Bird Council
If you’ve ever tried to learn about bird care, you’ve probably experienced the same thing we did.
You ask a simple question.
What should my bird eat?
How much should they weigh?
Is this behavior normal?
Which information can I trust?
And suddenly you find yourself sorting through articles, social media posts, breeder recommendations, forum debates, and strongly held opinions that often contradict one another.
The Executive Bird Council was born from a simple belief:
Bird owners deserve better information.
Birds deserve better care.
And every bird deserves the opportunity to thrive.
The Council exists to help birds and the people who love them by bringing together evidence-informed education, practical resources, thoughtful discussion, and a healthy amount of humor.
We believe excellent bird care begins with curiosity, compassion, and a willingness to keep learning.
We also believe uncertainty should be acknowledged, sources should be shared, and confidence should match the evidence.
The Executive Bird Council is not a veterinary practice. We are bird owners, learners, advocates, and supporters of the organizations and professionals working every day to improve the lives of birds.
Our goal is simple:
Better Information • Better Care • Thriving Birds
And while the Council takes its mission seriously, it does not always take itself seriously.
Which may explain why the organization is currently led by an Eclectus CEO, an African Grey Compliance Officer, a Blue & Gold Macaw Rescue Ambassador and Director of Nut Acquisition, and a Chaos Department that remains under active investigation.
Welcome to the Executive Bird Council.
We’re glad you’re here.
The Founding Story
Every organization begins somewhere.
Some begin in boardrooms.
Some begin in offices.
Some begin with strategic plans, business models, and carefully crafted mission statements.
The Executive Bird Council began with birds.
It began with a simple desire to provide them with the best life possible.
Along the way came questions.
Questions about nutrition.
Questions about behavior.
Questions about enrichment.
Questions about health.
Questions about welfare.
And with every question came an increasingly familiar challenge:
Finding trustworthy information was often harder than finding information.
Resources disagreed.
Experts disagreed.
Opinions were presented as facts.
Facts were sometimes presented without context.
And uncertainty was rarely acknowledged.
The more we learned, the more we realized that bird owners deserved a place where curiosity was encouraged, evidence was respected, compassion was prioritized, and learning never stopped.
At the same time, another realization emerged.
Bird ownership should not only be educational.
It should also be joyful.
Birds are intelligent.
Birds are complicated.
Birds are extraordinary.
Birds are occasionally ridiculous.
The Executive Bird Council was born from the belief that excellent bird care and a sense of humor can coexist.
That learning should be accessible.
That mistakes should be met with education rather than shame.
That every bird deserves the opportunity to thrive.
And that pomegranates deserve appropriate recognition for their contributions to avian happiness.
What began as a conversation gradually became something more.
A mission emerged.
A philosophy emerged.
A Council emerged.
The Chief Executive Officer was already in place.
The Compliance Officer quickly assumed her responsibilities.
A Rescue Ambassador joined the leadership team.
The Chaos Department appointed itself.
Domains were acquired.
Documents were written.
Standards were established.
The Constitution was ratified.
The Library was founded.
And the Executive Bird Council officially came into existence.
The Council’s purpose remains unchanged:
To help birds and the people who love them.
To pursue excellence.
To follow the evidence.
To lead with compassion.
To never stop learning.
And to help birds thrive.
The story is still being written.
This is only the beginning.
